ILLUSTRATION / TYPOGRAPHY

My friend Nora Stögerer asked me to participate in her master’s thesis Bekannte Unbekannte, a book about the history of Austrian graphic design. She featured 19 designers from all over the country, asking them what Austrian graphic design means to them and passing on their answer to the next designer, having them interpret it artistically in their individual ways.

Since I got the great Typejockey’s answer – Austrian graphic design is »[...] gesellig, unbeschwert und schmeckt wie ein gutes Achterl Hauswein« (roughly translated: »sociable, easy-going and tastes like a fine glass of house wine«) – I decided on a playful, flowery custom lettering, inspired by traditional Austrian embroidered or crotcheted table cloths.
